The inaugural Energy Digitalisation Summit Middle East (EDS ME) has started in Dubai to great success, welcoming over 100 buyers and sellers from across the global energy and technology sector and delivering an unrivalled programme of industry experts on its opening day (12th December).
EDS ME was created with a view to responding to growing industry demand - the first digital transformation, IoT and big data conference targeted specifically at the oil and gas industry.
Younus Al Nasser, Assistant Director General, Smart Dubai Office and CEO, Dubai Data Establishment delivered a special welcoming address to delegates and opening comments around, ‘The Role of Data in Smart Dubai.’ Further sessions followed with ‘The Currency of Digital Transformation’ from Babur Ozden, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Maana and ‘The Power of Digital Transformation for Oil, Gas & Chemical Industries’ from Luq Niazi, IBM Global Managing Director, Chemical & Petroleum Industries and Farid Faraidooni, Deputy CEO & Chief ICT Officer, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC).
Further keynote sessions on Day One came from senior representatives of Microsoft, du, IBM Middle East, Africa & Turkey, Siemens MENA and Honeywell with additional panel debates exploring areas including; ‘Driving the Digital Economy through Energy’ and ‘Developing the Next Generation of Energy Leaders in the Digital Landscape.’
Speaking at the Summit, Dan Grogan Event Director and Managing Director of organisers Global Event Partners explained; “The summit’s programme has been designed specifically for participants to debate the latest industry trends and get involved with discussions and formulating strategy for the largest energy digitalisation and data analytics operations throughout the Middle East. The Energy Digitalisation Summit 2017 has attracted extensive support from global technology and energy companies including; IBM, Microsoft, du, Aveva, Emerson, MAANA, OSIsoft, Siemens and Honeywell and will be the first in a series of summits in the pipeline with the next one planned to take place in Singapore in 2018.
